Asthma |
Asthma is a disease that results in obstruction of the
airways. During an asthma attack, spasms in the muscles around the bronchi
(small airways in the lungs) constrict, impeding the passage of air. The
bronchial tubes swell and become plugged with mucus. This inflammation irritates
the airways, leading to further sensitivity. This can result in more frequent
attacks and more severe symptoms.
Dr. Bob always had several recommendations for people who had asthma. Dr. Bob
was a M.D. internal medicine, orthomolecular doctor, M.D. psychiatrist,
chiropractor, and healer 65 years. He was a diabetic who lived to 108 years with
only 1 side effect 2 years before he passed away.
He advised to make sure your air, water, and food were as pure as possible. Dr.
Bob said improving air, water, and food decreases stress to the body and often
decreasing these kinds of stresses could help people with asthma. You can read
about additional methods that can decrease stress in conditions like asthma in
the article, "Dr. Bob's Method for Allergies & Toxic Reactions."
Dr. Bob was an orthomolecular doctor. This is a system of medicine practiced by
medical M.D. doctors. It is a method using natural substances that are non-toxic
and safe in a wide range of dose. Most of the substances used are herbs,
minerals/vitamins. The following are Dr. Bob's orthomolecular ideas to help the
problems of asthma.
1. Dr. Bob advised 3-6 grams total daily of buffered vitamin C powder, in
divided doses. Vitamin C decreases stress in the body and asthma usually loads
the body with stress.
2. Dr. Bob advised 1 baby aspirin every other day. This helps decrease symptoms
from asthma. The small doses minimize the toxic effects that large doses of
aspirin can produce. Dr. Bob said using aspirin every other day made it more
effective.
3. Dr Bob recommended the multivitamin and mineral Maxilife. Most multivitamin
and minerals are based on a 30 year old, 170-pound healthy male. The stress of
asthma usually results in deficiencies or greater needs. Dr. Bob said Maxilife
is the only multiple vitamin and mineral he found that has the correct doses for
most deficiencies.
4. Dr. Bob advised Udo's oil from Flora. Udo's oil is a blend of omega 3 and
omega 6 oils and also contains necessary cofactors. Dr. Bob said it had the
right balance and omega oils in the correct balance can help restore normal
function to tissue and decrease inflammation.
5. We advise TMG crystals. TMG purifies the blood from improper digested protein
such as homocysteine and often improperly digested food leads to allergy type
symptoms that can increase stress for people with asthma. 50-150 mg each meal is
considered a normal daily dose.
6. Dr. Bob advised 20 grams of soy powder for children and 40 grams for adults
daily. Soy powder boosts immunity, aids metabolism, improves thyroid, and other
positive aspects that Dr. Bob found helped people with asthma.
7. Dr. Bob advised 250 mg each day of N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC). NAC is a
supplement that Dr. Bob found could reduce mucus and this can be helpful in
asthma. Dr. Bob also said do not exceed this dosage in asthma. If this does not
help mucous problem read the article, "Over-Production of Mucous". You
can combine TMG, NAC and OKG. The TMG will neutralize the cysteine byproduct,
homocysteine. The OKG will help scavenge ammonia, an amino acid byproduct. This
can allow for higher doses of NAC to help decrease mucous. See a nutritional
expert about proper NAC, OKG and TMG doses.
8. Dr. Bob advised for a 180-lb. person, 2 grams of calcium, 1 gram of magnesium
and 300 mg of vitamin B6 daily. He advised most of the calcium and magnesium be
taken in the evening. The B6 should be in divided doses, along with the
calcium-magnesium when possible. Calcium-magnesium-B6 are cofactors of each
other and help to restore balance to cells. The stress of asthma may lead to
cellular imbalance. The product page on this web site contains a product called,
"TLC buffered vitamin C powder." This contains vitamin C,
calcium-magnesium, and is a way to combine some of the recommended supplements.
9. Dr. Bob advised 45 mg of zinc picolinate daily. Dr. Bob explained zinc is
useful as an energizer and important in immunity and this can be helpful for
asthma.
Dr. Bob found electrical imbalances in some people with asthma. He considered
this a problem when the asthmatic had many uncontrollable thoughts. In the cases
where asthma and many psychological problems were present he said Dilantin, a
prescribed drug, could help. Dr. Bob said Dilantin can often correct
inappropriate electrical activity and electrical imbalance in an individual.
Read more about Dilantin on this web site in an article titled, "Overlooked
Cure for Compulsive Thinking."
Dr. Bob also found that many times asthma like symptoms could result from a hole
in the septum, which could be caused by a tear or slipping of the cartilage.
Doctors are often unaware of this possibility. In some cases, x-rays should be
taken to determine if this condition exists. Surgery or taking orthomolecular
substances that build cartilage can often remedy this problem and eliminate a
lifetime difficulty.
In conclusion, asthma is a difficult condition to treat. Dr. Bob's ideas in
helping to improve the problems of asthma were to decrease stress. Asthma
usually has many factors involved with asthma attacks. Therefore there is
usually no magic bullet cure. So Dr. Bob's approach was to decrease overall
stress and this would give the immune and detox systems greater energy and
ability to fight against the inflammation, mucous, feelings of constriction, and
other problems of asthma. Dr. Bob often said, "good luck and may heaven's
blessings be yours."
Note – In order for these anti-aging ideas to be successful, you must use supplements of the highest quality. Dr. Bob often said, "almost all supplement companies produce poor quality." You can consider the product page of this web site. Almost all the products met Dr. Bob’s approval. Since he passed away we have attempted to keep the same high standards.
