Cure For Type I Diabetes Discovered by Science Right Now |
There is a cure that science has been using on
humans, since at least 1987, to cure type I diabetes or improve it.
As of April 1995 there have been at least 8 studies of this cure.
(Michael T. Murray, Encyclopedia of Nutrition Supplements.
Prima Publishing 1996, Page 95.)
Dr. Abram Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D., and one of the leading
orthomolecular doctors in the world, describes a double blind experiment with 16
newly diagnosed, ketotic, type I diabetics, ages 10 to 35 years.
This study was done by Vague, Vialettes, Lassmann-Vague, and Valio
(1987). "One week after
starting intensive insulin, the subjects were started on niacinamide (a B-3
vitamin) or placebo, 3 grams per day.
If insulin was still required after six months, the vitamin was
discontinued. Three of the treated
group reached two-year remissions. None
of the placebo groups were in remission longer than nine months!
The researchers concluded: "Our results and those found from animal
experiments (experiments on animals using niacinamide to prevent diabetes have
been going on since the 1950's.) indicate that, in type I diabetes, niacinamide
slows down destruction of B-cells and enhances their regeneration, thus
extending remission time."
Niacinamide is a B-3 vitamin.
It has been shown to be a cure in some cases of type I diabetes.
It has a greater chance of success when it is started as soon as possible
after type I diabetes has been detected. In
other studies some newly diagnosed type I diabetics have experienced complete
resolution of their diabetes with niacinamide supplementation.
In the spring of 1993, researchers started a large
multi-center study involving 18 European countries, Israel, and Canada to follow
up on these preliminary findings. Other
clinical trials are also in progress or have been proposed.
The progress of the new studies seems to be going
slowly. However, even with the great tragedy type I diabetes brings to the
diabetic and loved ones, this writer is not sure that the niacinamide studies
will conclude soon. The reason is
niacinamide is a natural substance and it is inexpensive.
There is no profit incentive and this can often lead to studies moving
slowly and often with great resistance from the establishment.
There is something newly diagnosed diabetics can do
right now, besides waiting for these studies to end. The FDA, under certain conditions, allows the use of
medications for other uses than the ones approved by the FDA. The main condition
is the medical literature must show the effectiveness and safety for the other
uses not approved by the FDA. This
means that doctors could start right now administering niacinamide to type I
diabetics if they concluded there were sufficient studies already existing
showing its effectiveness and safety.
Type I diabetics would need to see doctors with
strong nutritional background or orthomolecular doctors. Orthomolecular doctors use mainly natural substances and are
strong in nutritional science. There
is a listing of orthomolecular doctors on the web site
www.restoreunity.org
The type I diabetic could work with doctors strong in
nutrition to slowly build up their dose and monitor their medications in
conjunction with the niacinamide supplementation. The studies in children used up to 100 milligrams to 200
milligrams per day. Find a
knowledgeable nutritional doctor. Let
him determine the literature on niacinamide and see if he can begin to
administer niacinamide treatment for the type I diabetic.
He will probably start doses off slowly and build them up.
He will probably closely monitor medications in conjunction with the
niacinamide. Usually divided doses
are the most effective method to use supplements.
The longer the type I diabetic waits to start
niacinamide treatment, the studies seem to indicate the smaller chance he has to
improve or go into remission. Perhaps
it is in the type I diabetic's best interests to find a knowledgeable
nutritional doctor and find out if niacinamide treatments might potentially be a
cure or improve their diabetes.
We mentioned Dr. Abram Hoffer, MD, Ph.D., in this
article. He is considered to be the
leader of orthomolecular medicine. Orthomolecular
medicine is a system of medicine practiced by medical MD’s throughout the
world. It uses mainly natural
substances, non-toxic, and safe in a wide range of dose.
Dr. Hoffer annually hosts an orthomolecular conference.
It features keynote speakers. Dr.
Hoffer regularly speaks on schizophrenia. Dr.
Hoffer uses niacinamide in his treatments for schizophrenia. He notes that niacinamide doses that are too high in adults
usually result in nausea. Doses of
niacinamide that are too high for children usually lead to loss of appetite.
Consider reducing doses if these symptoms appear.
Note – When you take a high dose of a B vitamin,
this may deplete other B vitamins, since the B vitamins work together.
Consider supplementing 1-2 capsules of B50 (this contains 50 mg of each B
vitamin) along with the niacinamide. The
high dose of niacinamide by itself might deplete several other B vitamins in
your body.
Dr. Bob had an expression that might relate to this
article. He often said, "go
with the flow and contribute to the music of the motion."
Note – In order for these anti-aging ideas to be successful, you must use
supplements of the highest quality. Dr. Bob often said, "almost all
supplement companies produce poor quality." You can consider the product
page of this web site. Almost all the products met Dr. Bob’s approval.
Since he passed away we have attempted to keep the same high standards.
