Arthritis is the inflammation one or more joints. Pain, swelling, stiffness, deformity, and or a diminished range of motion characterize it.

Dr. Bob is mentioned on this web site many times. He was a M.D. internal medicine, orthomolecular doctor, M.D. psychiatrist, chiropractor, and healer 65 years. He was a diabetic who lived to 108 years with only 1 side effect.

Dr. Bob said there are two aspects in treating arthritis. One is to slow down the destruction of tissue by the inflammation, poor circulation, cascades of free radicals, excess cortisol, and other conditions that lead to more than normal breakdown of tissues. The other aspect of healing is to supply the body with substances that can help regrow cartilage, bone, and other tissue. So you want to slow break down in the body and promote growth of new tissue as your approach.

The following are the ideas of Dr. Bob. There are many types of arthritis, perhaps over a 100 different types, and this article is not intended to treat arthritis, rather the ideas are related how to slow breakdown of tissue and how to promote healing of tissue in arthritis conditions using mainly nutritional ideas.

1) Use Noni. The best natural product Dr. Bob found that helped to heal tissue in arthritis was Noni. Noni is a plant grown primarily throughout the South Pacific, but grows best in the mineral rich volcanic ash of the Hawaiian Islands.

2) Use MSM sulfur supplements. Sulfur is needed for the repair and rebuilding of bone, cartilage, and connective tissue, and aids in the absorption of calcium. Dr. Bob advised 3 grams each day, in divided doses.

3) Use SAMe. Dr. Bob advised 800-mg daily of SAMe. Dr. Bob said use SAMe for its ability to grow cartilage. Dr. Bob said it is the only substance he found that actually regrows cartilage. He said to combine this with growth hormone supplementation. Dr. Bob said growth hormone in combination with SAMe was an excellent method to support the regrowing aspects of cartilage by SAMe. Consult your doctor for growth hormone supplementation. Usually growth hormone replacement is not needed until after the age of 35 years.

4) Use TMG. TMG can increase levels of SAMe. SAMe can be expensive and TMG can be used to pinch hit for SAMe. It is better if you can combine SAMe, TMG, and growth hormone to be taken in conjunction to create synergy. Creating synergy in the body often helps the individual components work better and longer.

5) Use the multivitamin and mineral Maxilife. Almost all doses for multivitamin and minerals are based on a healthy 30-year-old male. Arthritis is a condition that involves great stress and therefore the body needs more nutrients than usual. Dr. Bob said almost all multi vitamin and minerals did not have the right doses for deficiency conditions such as arthritis. He said Maxilife was the only multi he found that had correct doses for deficiencies often found in chronic disease such as arthritis. Maxilife provides many cofactors needed to create healing, in synergy with the nutrients mentioned in this article.

6) Use distilled water. According to Dr. Bob, drinking water can be an important aspect in detoxing the body, something that can help in arthritis. He said drink distilled water because it is pure. Tap water, spring water, and bottled water are not pure water and therefore have toxins. Even if the levels of toxins are low enough to make the water drinkable, Dr. Bob said arthritic people cannot afford even low levels of toxicity from water. This just adds to the burden of healing.

7) Use Glucosamine Sulfate. It is a supplement that relieves pain and inflammation of arthritic conditions. It is a safe and effective natural alternative to aspirin and other steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Drugs and aspirin, especially at high doses, can produce toxicity in the body and therefore glucosamine sulfate can be a safe alternative. Modern medicine has done studies of glucosamine sulfate and much of the data shows it is an effective substance to relieve pain and inflammation in arthritis.

8) Use a total of 100-200 mg of vitamin B6 daily, in divided doses. Dr. Bob said he often found B6 deficiency in arthritis. B6 is involved in over 128 enzyme reactions in the body and is important to maintain health in order to fight any disease. Additionally, Dr. Bob found B6 often helped many people with arthritis. You can use a B50 or B100 to get your B6 dose.

9) Use growth hormone supplementation. Growth hormone supports SAMe in regrowing cartilage, according to Dr. Bob. Consult with your doctor before using growth hormone supplementation.

10) Use 1 Tylenol and 3 Advil at the same time for pain. Dr. Bob said this often works better than codeine.

11) Use vitamin C 5-6 grams per day in divided doses. It will help grow cartilage according to Dr. Bob.

12) Use 500 mg magnesium. Magnesium is an important cofactor of B6.

13) Use 1000 mg of calcium. Calcium is an important cofactor of magnesium. The ratio of calcium to magnesium is 2 to 1. You can get a "calcium-magnesium-vitamin C buffered powder called "TLC buffered C" from the product page of this web site. You can get much of your calcium-magnesium-vitamin C dose from "TLC buffered C."

The above information is mainly to promote healing of tissue. However, in arthritis there is inflammation, decreased circulation, difficulty of antioxidants to reach damaged tissue, excess cortisol, free radical production, and often-autoimmune attacks by the body at the area of arthritis. All of these problems are separate from healing aspects. These problems are destructive and break down tissue. Dr. Bob said this destructive aspect of arthritis needed to be neutralized in order for the ideas about healing tissue to help. He said healing usually will not work if the arthritis is acting at a high rate of destruction in the body. There are several articles on this web site that describe Dr. Bob's ideas on neutralizing many of the destructive aspects of arthritis using nutrients and natural substances. One of the articles is "Dr. Bob's Special Understanding of the Autoimmune Diseases". In order to neutralize damaging conditions such as inflammation, production of free radicals, and other such destructive conditions in the body, we suggest you read Dr. Bob's articles discussing these ideas. In the meantime, we would like to offer one other idea Dr. Bob expressed strongly in relation to arthritis.

Dr. Bob expressed that the emotion of resentment could be a contributing factor to arthritis. He said that each time a person has an emotion there is a specific, chemical response to that emotion. The hormone response is different for each emotion. This means that resentment has a specific hormone response each time a person has resentment. The hormones produced from resentment are now flowing around in the blood waiting to be used up in a particular response, but the person only had a psychological reaction and not a physical response. The resentment hormones flowing around in the bloodstream most likely are not used up since the person only had a psychological stress and not a physical one. So the body cannot hold the resentment hormones in the bloodstream indefinitely. The body must adapt to the situation by balancing the excess hormones in the bloodstream. The balancing of excess hormones results in stress to the body, which over time can produce a break down in tissues. In particular, Dr. Bob said hormones produced from resentment are concentrated in the joints. Constant resentment is a vicious cycle of destruction in the body. Dr. Bob said, "people cannot afford destructive emotions."

Dr. Bob said most people he met with arthritis, resented having arthritis! He said resentment is another form of blame and when a person is not happy with some thing or some situation, he resents what he sees has responsible. He is angry at what is going on at the present, he does not like what is going on, and he holds the anger inside and this burns up the body. The person feels as though he has been trampled on by something or some person. The body reacts and disintegrates.

This is not a lovely picture of a person's inner state of being! Besides not being a pleasant state, resentment is something you cannot afford to own, the price is high in the form of injury to the body. The resentment hormones can result in symptoms and problems of arthritis and this is why Dr. Bob said you cannot afford resentment.

Note – In order for these anti-aging ideas to be successful, you must use supplements of the highest quality. Dr. Bob often said, "almost all supplement companies produce poor quality." You can consider the product page of this web site. Almost all the products met Dr. Bob’s approval. Since he passed away we have attempted to keep the same high standards.
