Focus ~ Concentration ~ Attention

Dr. Robert Rhondell Gibson was a MD internal medicine, orthomolecular doctor, MD psychiatrist, chiropractor, and healer 65 years.  He was a diabetic who lived to 108 years with only 1 side effect 2 years before he passed away.  Dr. Bob practiced a system of medicine called orthomolecular medicine.  It is a system of medicine that uses mainly natural substances that are non-toxic and safe in wide range of doses.  It uses mainly herbs and minerals/vitamins.

Dr. Bob read tremendous amounts of medical literature.  As he grew older he found it more difficult to sustain concentration and focus.  He developed a protocol for himself that allowed him greater powers of focus and attention.

The following is Dr. Bob's protocol to increase focus/concentration/and memory:

1.      1/2 to 1 gram of DHA.  DHA increases cell permeability and increases nerve power.   DHA can enhance protocols to improve the workings of the brain.

2.      125-250 mg of CDP.  CDP is a powerful supplement for increasing important brain neurotransmitters.  It has been used in Europe to help in cases of brain trauma.

3.      400-800 mg of L-pyroglutamate.  This supplement has the ability to enhance the chollergenic system.  The chollergenic system is involved with acetyl-L-choline, which involves concentration, memory, and other important brain functions.

4.      500-1000 mg of vitamin B-5.  Read the article in the anti-aging brain section, which describes the importance of vitamin B-5 in any brain supplement protocol.  The B-5 should perhaps use a dose of 1:1 ratio for the CDP and about a 1:2 ratio for the L-pyroglutamate.  Total the two up for this brain protocol dosage of B-5.

5.      500-1000 mg of flushless niacin.  Niacin has been proven in research to boost memory 30-70%.  It has been extensively researched.  Niacin increases cell membrane permeability and thus it is synergistic for almost any supplemental protocol.

6.      Take one B-50 supplement.  It increases cellular energy and helps balance the large dose of B-5.

7.      40-120 mg of bilberry.  This is optional for this protocol, but Dr. Bob said bilberry enhances the nervous system of the brain.  This is synergistic with any brain protocol.  Aside from bilberry you can consider the product Berry High on this web site on the product page.  Berry High also contains other berries aside from bilberry.  Strawberry has been shown to help enhance the brain and is contained in the Berry High.

If the intention is to increase focus and concentration for a short period of time, during study, testing, etc. then take the entire protocol one-hour before the brainwork.  To increase focus and concentration over the entire day period divide the dose of L-pyroglutamate, B-50, and niacin into a divided dose 2-3 times in a day.  Take all the supplements together one time a day, when most needed, such as when you will be doing brain work, but supplement the L-pyroglutamate, niacin, and B-50 into 1 - 2  divided doses daily.

NOTE – In order for these nutritional ideas to be successful, you must use supplements of the highest quality. Dr. Bob often said, “Almost all supplement companies produce poor quality.”  You can consider the product page of this web site. Almost all the products met Dr. Bob’s approval.  Since he passed away we have attempted to keep the same high standards.
