Dr. Bob was a MD internal medicine, orthomolecular doctor, MD psychiatrist, chiropractor, and healer 65 years.  He was a diabetic who lived to 108 years with only 1 side effect 2 years before he passed away.  Dr. Bob practiced a system of medicine called orthomolecular medicine.  It is a system of medicine that uses mainly natural substances that are non-toxic and safe in wide range of doses.  It uses mainly herbs and minerals/vitamins.

Dr. Bob’s methods to help improve brain circulation:

1.      Dr. Bob advised supplementing calcium-magnesium-B-6 to help maintain cellular balance.  Calcium and magnesium help control cellular balance, inside and outside cells.  When calcium levels are not proper, this can lead to excess calcium in the bloodstream.  This excess calcium can become involved in the buildup of plaque on vascular walls.  Start at 1000-mg of calcium supplementation a day, for men over 50 and women over 40, using divided doses.  We recommend using calcium supplements that contain elemental calcium, the calcium found in your bones.  Do not drink milk or eat chocolate around the time of calcium supplementation.  Start at 500 mg total magnesium supplementation each day.  Supplement the calcium-magnesium at the same time, in a ratio of 2 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium.   Supplement vitamin B6 in the ratio of 3 parts magnesium to 1 part B6.  Include the amounts of B6 from a B-50 or a multivitamin and mineral.  We handle elemental calcium on our product page, in the supplement called Bone-Up.  WARNING – consult with a doctor and measure your levels of calcium and magnesium before starting supplementation.  If the levels of calcium and magnesium are not proper, then do not supplement calcium-magnesium-B6 as described in this article.  Instead consult with a nutritional specialist and supplement appropriately to reestablish proper calcium-magnesium ratios.  Consider testing sodium and potassium levels, which are involved with calcium and magnesium balance.

2.      Dr. Bob advised 30-45 mg of zinc picolinate daily.  Zinc is a cofactor of magnesium and B6.

3.      Dr. Bob advised 5-9 grams total, of buffered vitamin C powder, in 2-3 divided doses, each day.  You can get some of your calcium and magnesium dose from buffered vitamin C powder.  Vitamin C has been shown by science to reverse coronary heart disease.

4.      Dr. Bob advised SAMe.  SAMe can help reverse kinnin peptides, a condition where protein molecules create damage to the body, especially vascular walls and capillaries.  SAMe can do this by assisting the chemical method in the body called methylation.  The supplement TMG can be used in place of SAMe or together with SAMe.

5.      Dr. Bob advised a B50 and/or multivitamin and mineral with any nutritional or supplemental protocol.  (In Parkinson’s, he advised 25 mg – 100 mg total of B6 daily using divided doses.  Consult with a nutritional specialist, in Parkinson’s Disease, for the use of vitamin B6.)

6.      Dr. Bob advised supplementing digestive enzymes and pancreatin.  They help to digest protein.  The result of improper utilization of protein, can be seen in the form of plaque on vascular walls and in the brain.  Pancreatin and digestive enzymes can help digest protein, perhaps before it becomes improperly utilized.

7.      Consider supplementing the amino acids proline and lysine.  They are involved with building vascular walls.  Strong vascular walls can help improve circulation.

8.      Consider supplementing hexanicotinate niacin.  Niacin has been proven to reduce blood fats.  Read the article, “Anti-Death Vitamin”, in the Overlooked Cures Section of this web site.  You can consider using the dose of niacin from the Coronary Drug Project. This, 20-year study, sponsored by the modern medical establishment, obtained fantastic results using niacin.

9.      Consider supplementing gingko biloba.  It promotes neuro-health by increasing cerebral blood circulation.  Dr. Bob advised 120-240 mg daily, in divided doses.

10.  Consider supplementing vitamin E.  Vitamin E can help repair vascular and capillary damage from LDL.  LDL is a risk factor for heart disease and capillary damage.  Dr. Bob advised dry E.  He recommended 800 I.U. total, in divided doses each day.

11.  Consider supplementing CoQ10.  It supports heart function.  This means CoQ10 can help the heart to work more efficiently.  Thus, circulation can be improved.  Improved blood volume and less workload on the heart are two potential benefits of CoQ10.  Dr. Bob advised 60 mg for women and 100 mg for men daily.  He recommended divided doses to spread out the effects.

12.  Consider supplementing acetyl-L-carnitine 1-2 grams total in divided doses each day.  It strengthens nerve impulses, which can improve the strength of the heart and circulation.

In conclusion, there are methods in orthomolecular medicine to help anti-age the brain.  Improving vascular and brain circulation can be considered anti-aging.  Good luck.

Important – In many cases of brain degeneration, in diseases such as Alzheimer’s and/or Parkinson’s disease, a heavy metal toxicity test and an analysis of your mineral and vitamin levels should be considered.  Degeneration of the brain can especially alter mineral levels such as calcium, magnesium, zinc, sodium, potassium and chromium.  Removing toxic metals and reestablishing mineral and vitamin balance, can be of great help in decreasing stress and brain degeneration.

Note – In order for these nutritional ideas to be successful, you must use supplements of the highest quality. Dr. Bob often said, “almost all supplement companies produce poor quality.”  You can consider the product page of this web site. Almost all the products met Dr. Bob’s approval.  Since he passed away we have attempted to keep the same high standards.
